Unauthenticated host restart via unchecked RPC request
Published May 26, 2021 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Missing authorization in Red Hat Certification 7 allows remote attackers to restart accessible hosts through the /configuration view. The view accepts an unauthenticated restart RPC request and forwards it to any host reachable by the system without checking ownership. Network access to the web view is sufficient, and repeated requests can interrupt the RHCertD daemon or restart another customer's host.
