Command execution via unsanitized ping destination
Published May 4, 2018 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Command injection in Dasan GPON home routers allows remote attackers to execute commands via crafted ping diagnostic requests. The /GponForm/diag_Form handler interprets shell metacharacters in dest_host when diag_action=ping, storing command output in /tmp for retrieval through /diag.html. Exploitation requires access to the diagnostic interface; chaining CVE-2018-10561 bypasses authentication and permits command execution without credentials.
