Unauthenticated browser script execution via log injection
Published Mar 16, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Stored cross-site scripting in Contao before 4.5.7 allows remote attackers to execute script in a back-end user's browser via a request. The system-log back-end view renders request-derived log content without neutralizing executable markup, causing a stored payload to become active HTML. No authentication is required to plant the payload, but execution requires a logged-in back-end user to open the system log.
