Application hang via cyclic DNS compression pointer

Uncontrolled resource consumption in GNU adns before 1.5.2 allows attackers to hang calling applications via a crafted DNS response. The DNS packet parser repeatedly follows a cyclic compression pointer instead of detecting the loop, leaving the parser spinning and consuming CPU. Every adns caller is exposed when its configured local recursive resolver returns the malformed response; the bounded effect is an indefinite hang and CPU consumption in the calling process.
