Unauthenticated data access via auth query bypass
Published May 6, 2017 · Updated Mar 6, 2026
Authentication bypass in Hikvision IP camera firmware allows remote attackers to read protected data via crafted HTTP requests. The web interface accepts a crafted base64-encoded auth query parameter as authorization for protected routes, including /System/configurationFile. Network access to an affected camera is sufficient; no valid account or user interaction is required, and downloaded configuration data exposes user information.
