Unauthenticated command execution via multipart error OGNL evaluation
Published Mar 11, 2017 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
OGNL injection in Apache Struts 2's Jakarta multipart parser allows remote attackers to execute commands via crafted HTTP headers. In 2.3.5 through 2.3.31 and 2.5 through 2.5.10, JakartaMultiPartRequest.buildErrorMessage passes header-derived exception text to LocalizedTextUtil.findText as an OGNL-evaluated default message. Exploitation requires a reachable application using a Jakarta multipart parser, but no authentication or user interaction, and commands run with the web application's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Compare these published version ranges with your installed build and any vendor patches.
- Affected versionversion=2.3.x before 2.3.32
