Unintended cloud storage via flawed upload prevention
Published Dec 23, 2021 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
A logic error in Call History in Apple iOS before 10.2.1 allows local users to send CallKit call-history updates to iCloud. The Call History logic fails to prevent CallKit updates from being uploaded to iCloud, retaining data outside the device when it should remain local. The behavior requires a local low-privileged context and affects the placement of CallKit call-history updates rather than device availability.
