Account data disclosure via newline-free JSON wrapper
Published Feb 21, 2023 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Information disclosure in the saveJSON function in Codiad 2.8.0 allows remote authenticated users to read account data via PHP data files. The function writes JSON directly beside PHP comment markers without line breaks, causing nginx with FastCGI to serve the commented records as source when a data file is requested. Exposure requires the affected nginx and PHP-FPM configuration and reveals usernames, password hashes, and last-project values without permitting modification.
