Stored XSS via unescaped search query rendering
Published Dec 30, 2022 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Stored XSS in Sterc Online Agency Google Analytics Dashboard 1.0.5 and earlier allows remote attackers to run JavaScript in MODX Manager. The Internal Search template renders Google Analytics site-search terms in widget.analytics.tpl without HTML escaping, so Analytics stores injected markup and the widget executes it when displayed. Exploitation requires a MODX Manager user to view the dashboard widget; the injected code then runs in that user's browser session.
