Administrator session theft via unescaped author origin
Published Jun 23, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Stored XSS in Gwolle Guestbook 1.7.4 allows remote attackers to execute script in an editor's or administrator's browser. The author-origin field is stored from a guestbook submission, and admin/page-editor.php places it in a value attribute without sufficient output encoding. Execution occurs when an editor or administrator reviews the entry, enabling session-token theft or actions with that user's privileges.
