Unauthenticated flash access via unprotected UDP service
Published Jun 9, 2022 · Updated Apr 15, 2025
Improper privilege management in Solar-Log 2.8.4-56 and 3.5.2-85 allows remote attackers to gain flash-reprogramming privileges via UDP. The enabled-by-default Beck IPC configuration service omits a password, exposing CHIPTOOL flash operations over the network. Executing the operation can corrupt firmware and brick the appliance; the publisher did not perform the destructive proof of concept.
