Service interruption via mishandled IP rate limiting
Published Jun 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Resource throttling weakness in Mattermost Server before 4.2.0, 4.1.1, and 4.0.5 allows remote attackers to interrupt service. Public records disclose only that the server mishandles IP-based rate limiting; the affected component and incorrect operation remain undisclosed. Unauthenticated network access is sufficient, and the documented consequence is reduced availability without reported data access or modification.
