Unauthenticated application crash via malformed JavaScript field name
Published Jun 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Mattermost Server before 4.5.0, 4.4.5, 4.3.4, and 4.2.2 allows remote attackers to cause an application crash via an @ before a JavaScript field name. A JavaScript field name preceded by @ reaches server handling that raises an uncaught exception and terminates the application. The network path is unauthenticated and requires no user interaction; impact is limited to service interruption from process crashes, with no evidence of data disclosure or modification.
