CVE-2017-18863Network attack vector

Command execution via unvalidated PHP form

Published Apr 28, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Command injection in NETGEAR access-point firmware through the listed versions allows local attackers to execute commands via PHP forms. Insecure PHP forms pass attacker-controlled parameters into command operations without proper validation, enabling shell command injection and file-system read/write access. Local access is required for direct exploitation; cross-site request forgery or cross-site scripting can provide remote reachability, with command execution and possible file-system corruption as consequences.
