CVE-2017-18737

Unauthenticated command execution via pre-auth injection

Published Apr 23, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Command injection in NETGEAR router firmware before the listed fixed releases allows remote attackers to execute commands through pre-authentication interfaces. The vendor advisory identifies a pre-authentication command-injection flaw affecting specific router and extender firmware builds but does not disclose the exact endpoint, parameter, or parsing operation that permits command execution. An attacker on an adjacent network requires no authentication or user interaction, and successful exploitation can compromise confidentiality, integrity, and availability of the device.
