Memory disclosure via unchecked device-control buffer bounds
Published Apr 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Out-of-bounds read in /dev/dsm_ctrl_dev on Samsung mobile devices with Android 5.1, 6.0, or 7.0 allows remote attackers to disclose memory. The device-control interface reads past the intended buffer because it does not check the buffer boundary before accessing memory. The NVD assessment requires no authentication or user interaction, and the reported consequence is limited to disclosure of adjacent memory.
