Unauthenticated root execution via syslog host injection
Published May 2, 2019 · Updated Oct 21, 2025
Command injection in Zyxel Networks P-660HN-T1A ViewLog.asp allows remote attackers to run root commands via crafted HTTP requests. On hardware revision v1 with TrueOnline firmware 3.40(ULM.0)b31, the Remote System Log forwarder interprets shell metacharacters in remote_host as commands rather than only a log-server address. Exploitation requires access to the management interface but no credentials; LAN exploitation is demonstrated, while WAN reachability was not established.
