CVE-2017-16631Network attack vector

Administrative account takeover via password-reset IDOR

Published Aug 11, 2021 · Updated Aug 5, 2024

Authorization bypass in SapphireIMS 4097_1 allows remote authenticated users to reset an administrative user's password. The Account Password Reset function accepts an administrative account reference from a guest user and performs the password change without enforcing object-level authorization. Guest-level access is sufficient, and a successful reset grants control of the targeted administrative account without directly disclosing data or interrupting the service.
