Authenticated code execution via unbounded s_ddelay copy
Published Jan 11, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in Insteon Hub firmware 1012 allows remote authenticated users to execute code via a PubNub command. The s_sonos handler passes the untrusted s_ddelay JSON value to strcpy into a 32-byte stack buffer without a length check. Access requires PubNub authentication; an oversized value overwrites adjacent stack data and enables compromise of the device.
