Authenticated code execution via unbounded offset copy
Published Jan 11, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Stack overflow in Insteon Hub firmware 1012 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through a crafted PubNub command. The s_time handler passes the offset value to strcpy without a length check, copying it into a 100-byte stack buffer. Access requires an authenticated HTTP request through PubNub; oversized input overwrites stack data and can compromise or interrupt the Hub.
