Authenticated code execution via unbounded IP copy
Published Jan 11, 2023 · Updated Apr 9, 2025
Stack-based buffer overflow in the Insteon Hub 1012 PubNub message handler allows remote authenticated users to execute code. In cmd s_net at 0x9d01815c, strcpy copies the ip JSON value into a 100-byte stack buffer without enforcing its length. A valid PubNub auth key and the target Hub channel are required; an oversized value can overwrite saved registers and the program counter, enabling code execution or a crash.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
