Authenticated code execution via unbounded s_sonos_cmd copy
Published Jan 11, 2023 · Updated Apr 8, 2025
Stack buffer overflow in the PubNub cc handler of Insteon Hub 2245-222 firmware 1012 allows remote authenticated users to execute code. The cmd s_b path copies the s_sonos_cmd JSON value with strcpy into a 32-byte stack buffer without checking its length. An authenticated PubNub request carrying a longer value overwrites stack data, enabling code execution or a device crash.
