CVE-2017-13318

Memory disclosure via overflowing HEIF read bounds

Published Jan 28, 2025 · Updated Jan 28, 2025

Out-of-bounds read in the Android 8.1 Media framework allows remote attackers to disclose memory through a crafted HEIF image. HeifDataSource::readAt adds the requested offset and size without first excluding integer overflow, allowing a wrapped bound to precede an out-of-bounds read. Exploitation requires user interaction that causes the image to be decoded; no execution privileges or integrity and availability impact are reported.
