Privilege escalation in Android 7.0 through 8.1 allows local users to start an activity with system privileges through a crafted parcel. SparseMappingTable.readFromParcel accepts a final backing array whose length does not match mNextIndex, allowing inconsistent serialized process-statistics state to bypass permission boundaries. Exploitation requires a locally installed application but no user interaction, and grants that application system-level activity-launch privileges.
