Remote code execution via unrestricted HTTP deserialization
Published Oct 4, 2017 · Updated Oct 7, 2026
Deserialization in Red Hat JBoss Application Server as shipped with EAP 5.2 allows remote attackers to execute code via crafted HTTP requests. The HTTP Invoker's ReadOnlyAccessFilter.doFilter method deserializes attacker-supplied objects without restricting permitted classes. Exploitation requires a reachable HTTP Invoker context; successful payloads execute code in the application server process without authentication.
