Unauthenticated command execution via WorkContext XML decoding
Published Oct 19, 2017 · Updated Aug 13, 2026
Deserialization in Oracle WebLogic Server 10.3.6.0.0 allows remote attackers to execute commands via WLS-WSAT SOAP requests. In 10.3.6.0.0, 12.1.3.0.0, 12.2.1.1.0, and 12.2.1.2.0, the WLS-WSAT WorkContext handler decodes untrusted XML with XMLDecoder, allowing attacker-selected Java objects and method calls to start processes. Exploitation requires an unpatched, network-reachable endpoint but no authentication; commands execute with the server process's privileges.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.
