SYSTEM code execution via unquoted service paths
Published Jun 19, 2026 · Updated Jun 19, 2026
Unquoted service paths in Matrix42 Remote Control Host 3.20.0031 allow local users to execute arbitrary code with SYSTEM privileges. The FastViewerRemoteService and FastViewerRemoteProxy ImagePath values omit quotes around executable paths containing spaces, so Windows can select an attacker-placed Remote.exe from a parent directory. A local user who can write that file and restart either service or the host gains SYSTEM-level code execution.
