Local privilege escalation via unquoted service paths
Published Jun 19, 2026 · Updated Jun 19, 2026
Local privilege escalation in Vembu StoreGrid 4.0 allows local users to execute code as LocalSystem through unquoted Windows service paths. The RemoteBackup and RemoteBackup_webServer configurations pass executable paths containing spaces to Windows without enclosing them in quotes. A low-privileged user with write access to an earlier parsed path segment gains full system privileges when either service restarts.
