Administrator account creation via unchecked cross-origin POST
Published Mar 15, 2026 · Updated Mar 15, 2026
Cross-site request forgery in Wowza Streaming Engine 4.5.0 allows remote attackers to create administrator accounts through a malicious web page. The user-edit handler accepts a cross-origin POST carrying action=new, chosen credentials, and accessLevel=admin without validating request authenticity. A logged-in administrator must visit attacker-controlled content while the Manager session is active, after which the new account has administrative access.
