Unauthenticated root command execution via web shell
Published Oct 19, 2022 · Updated May 9, 2025
OS command injection in MVPower TV-7104HE 1.8.4 115215B9 and TV7108HE DVRs allows remote attackers to execute commands as root. The dvr_app web server exposes an undocumented /shell handler that passes the URL query string to the operating-system shell without authenticating requests or neutralizing commands. Any host that can reach the DVR's HTTP service can obtain full device control, and the handler cannot be disabled.
