Unauthenticated command execution via Java deserialization
Published Mar 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 5, 2024
Deserialization in Lexmark Markvision Enterprise before 2.3.0 allows remote attackers to execute commands via a crafted Java object. The MVE server deserializes attacker-supplied Java objects through the vulnerable Apache Commons Collections library, enabling command execution. No authentication is required, and commands run with the Markvision Enterprise application's privileges, exposing stored data and the host server.
