LDAP identity modification via superfluous admin API
Published Jun 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Authorization weakness in Mattermost Server before 3.0.0 allows remote authenticated users with System Admin access to alter LDAP account identity data. The superfluous administrative API accepts replacement account-name and email values for identities managed by LDAP instead of preserving those directory-controlled fields. System Admin privileges and an LDAP-backed account are required; the bounded consequence is unauthorized modification of account identity data.
