Physical Factory Reset Protection bypass
Published Apr 7, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Authentication bypass in Samsung mobile devices through 2015-11-11 allows physically proximate attackers to defeat Factory Reset Protection. Samsung has not published the affected component or the operation that incorrectly accepts untrusted input during Factory Reset Protection checks. Physical access to an FRP-enabled device is required, and successful exploitation permits device reuse after a reset without the linked account.
