Console token disclosure via verbose logging
Published Feb 19, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
OpenStack Nova before 18.2.4, 19.x before 19.1.0, or 20.x before 20.1.0 lets local log readers obtain console tokens. NovaProxyRequestHandlerBase.new_websocket_client logs connection information containing the consoleauth token without masking it, and the consoleauth manager logs received tokens in clear form. Exploitation requires read access to Nova service logs and a novncproxy deployment; stolen tokens can be used to access instance consoles.
