CVE-2015-7507Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Service interruption via out-of-bounds color-table read

Published Feb 18, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

Out-of-bounds reads in NetSurf Libnsbmp 0.1.2 allow context-dependent attackers to interrupt a consuming application with a crafted BMP file. The bmp_decode_rgb and bmp_decode_rle functions read beyond the supplied color table while resolving crafted pixel data. Impact requires a consuming application to decode attacker-controlled BMP or ICO content; the demonstrated consequence is an out-of-bounds read and application termination.
