Authenticated code execution via blacklist-bypassing upload
Published Mar 9, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Arbitrary file upload in Joobi JNews before 8.5.0 allows remote authenticated users to execute code through subscriber or template uploads. The extension check in lib.upload.php uses a blacklist that omits executable suffixes such as .php5, while subscriber import also accepts PHP files. Access to the Subscribers or Templates upload forms is required; a successful upload places an attacker-controlled script in a web-reachable path and grants control of the web server.
