Authenticated code execution via unrestricted upload paths
Published Feb 13, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Path traversal in Kaseya Virtual System Administrator allows remote authenticated users to write and execute arbitrary server files. The json.ashx HTTP handler accepts a supplied destination path without restricting traversal, enabling an ASP file to be placed under WebPages and executed by IIS. Authentication and a valid console window identifier are required; affected releases span 7.0.0.0 through 7.0.0.32, 8.0.0.0 through 8.0.0.22, 9.0.0.0 through 9.0.0.18, and 9.1.0.0 through 9.1.0.8.
