Denial of service in rubygem-moped before the security fix allows remote attackers to consume worker resources or trigger cross-site scripting through crafted strings. The Moped::BSON::ObjecId.legal? method validates ObjectId input with line-anchored regular-expression boundaries, allowing trailing-newline or multiline data to pass as valid. Exploitation requires a remotely reachable caller that supplies attacker-controlled ObjectId text; the documented consequences are worker exhaustion and XSS, with no evidence of confidentiality or integrity impact beyond script execution in an affected consumer.
