Private-key operations via PIN validation typo
Published Mar 29, 2022 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Authentication bypass in Yubico ykneo-openpgp before 1.0.10 allows local users to perform private-key operations without a valid PIN. The computeDigitalSignature, decipher, and internalAuthenticate methods use an AND check, so an unvalidated PIN can still permit signing, decryption, or challenge authentication when mode flags are unset. Access requires local host privileges or NFC proximity; the private key remains non-readable, but unauthorized cryptographic operations can be performed.

Exploitability
Present is not the same as exploitable
Compare your product and version with the public record. A matching version still requires validation against your environment.

Published CVSS scores
No CVSS assessment is available in this record.
CVSS describes severity. EPSS estimates exploitation probability.
Attacks
What attackers are doing with it
Daily unique IPs observed by Shadowserver honeypots for known exploited vulnerabilities (KEVs). Missing observations do not establish an absence of attacks.
