Unauthenticated private-post disclosure via export endpoint
Published Nov 1, 2021 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Missing authorization in Pete WP Attachment Export before 0.2.4 allows remote attackers to download private WordPress post data as XML. A public request to wp-admin/tools.php with the wp-attachment-export-download parameter invokes the export path without requiring a logged-in administrator. No authentication or user interaction is required, and the returned WXR data can expose private posts and plaintext passwords for protected posts.
