Administrator access via unchecked options update
Published Jul 25, 2025 · Updated Apr 8, 2026
Missing authorization in PageLines Platform before 1.4.4 allows remote attackers to gain administrator access through arbitrary option updates. The *_ajax_save_options() handler lacks a capability check and writes attacker-supplied values to the WordPress options table, including default_role and users_can_register. An unauthenticated request can enable registration with Administrator as the default role, after which a newly registered account controls the site.
