CVE-2015-10142Network attack vector

Unauthenticated file disclosure via IIS404Handler streaming

Published Jul 25, 2025 · Updated May 15, 2026

File disclosure in Sitecore XP before 8.0 and CMS before 7.2 Update-3 or 7.5 Update-1 allows remote attackers to read known web-root files. The Sitecore.Pipelines.PreprocessRequest.IIS404Handler processes crafted URLs by streaming an existing named file beneath the site web root without blocking every sensitive extension. Exploitation requires no authentication but requires knowing the file name; it cannot browse directories or retrieve .config, .aspx, or .cs files.
