Authenticated browser-script execution via inherited request URL
Published Apr 21, 2024 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Thimo Grauerholz WP-Spreadplugin 3.8.6.1 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a crafted URL. The Spreadplugin shortcode builds its pagination link with add_query_arg without an explicit base URL, causing the current request URL to enter generated href markup. Exploitation requires low-privileged WordPress access and a victim to follow the crafted request while the shortcode emits a next-page link, with script execution limited to the site's browser origin.
