Authentication bypass via loose cookie comparison
Published Feb 4, 2024 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Authentication bypass in samwilson Planet Freo through 20150116 allows remote attackers to access the dashboard via a crafted auth cookie. In admin/inc/auth.inc.php, the auth cookie is compared with the configured password using PHP's loose equality operator, enabling numeric-string type juggling. No authentication is required; a magic-hash value can satisfy the comparison and expose the administrative dashboard, but no data-modification impact is reported.
