Open redirect via unsanitized sendback URL
Published Jun 5, 2023 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Open redirect in WooThemes WooSidebars 1.4.0 through 1.4.1 allows remote attackers to redirect users through a crafted sendback URL. The enable_custom_post_sidebars() method derives sendback from wp_get_referer() and passes it to wp_safe_redirect() without first applying esc_url(). User interaction through an attacker-controlled request is required; the upstream patch labels the issue an XSS fix, so public sources disagree on whether the result is redirection or script execution.
