Authenticated cross-site scripting via unescaped action URL
Published Feb 12, 2023 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Cross-site scripting in Hudson Atwell Resend Welcome Email 1.0.1 allows remote authenticated users to execute script via a crafted URL. The send_welcome_email_url function builds an action URL from current request query data with add_query_arg and returns it through wp_nonce_url without esc_url sanitization. Exploitation requires an authenticated victim to follow a crafted request in the WordPress user-profile interface, causing attacker-controlled script to run in that user's browser.
