Client hang via URL regex backtracking
Published Jan 7, 2023 · Updated May 28, 2025
Regular expression denial of service in luelista miniConf 1.7.0 through 1.7.6 allows remote authenticated users to hang the client. MessageView.cs passes message text to a URL-matching Regex.Replace pattern whose nested alternatives permit excessive backtracking on crafted URL-like input. Exploitation requires sending such a message into an XMPP multi-user conference joined by the client, and the documented consequence is loss of client availability.
