SQL injection via whitespace filter bypass
Published Jan 7, 2023 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
SQL injection in custom_import.pl in International Institute of Social History nlgis2 allows attackers to alter database queries via crafted import data. The script's denylist recognizes dangerous table operations only when keywords are separated by whitespace, so alternate separators evade the check before the input reaches SQL processing. Exploitation requires access to supply data to the ETL import path; public sources do not identify the required role or the database operations available to that path.
