Arbitrary PHP execution via serialized parameter interpolation
Published Jan 2, 2023 · Updated Aug 6, 2024
Code injection in Nonfiction nterchange 4.1.0 and earlier allows remote authenticated users to execute PHP through the q parameter. The dynamicPHP helper inserts serialized parameters into single-quoted generated PHP after escaping only quote characters, letting a crafted backslash-and-quote sequence terminate the value and append executable code. Exploitation requires a reachable front-end and low-privileged account, and injected PHP runs in the application's execution context.
