CVE-2014-9211Public exploitNetwork attack vector

Stored script execution via unescaped widget fields

Published Jan 14, 2020 · Updated Aug 6, 2024

Stored cross-site scripting in the ClickDesk WordPress plugin 4.3 and earlier allows remote attackers to inject scripts through chat-widget fields. Multiple widget fields accept content that is stored and later emitted without sufficient input sanitization or output escaping; public sources do not identify the parameters or code locus. Execution requires a victim to view the affected widget output, and the injected script runs in that visitor's browser with the site's origin.
